The navigation signals of the Galileo system will possess some new features in comparison to signals currently used in GPS. In particular, the presence of pilot channels on all Galileo bands and the use of signals with binary offset carrier (BOC) modulation open the room for improving acquisition and tracking performance of naviga-tion receivers. In this paper, different methods for acquisition of Galileo signals are discussed and their performance is analysed from the software receiver perspective
