The paper deals with the simulation results of the EU project Copernicus SADTS (Semi-Active Damping of Truck Suspensions and its Influence on Drivers and Road Loards). The objectives of this project were to investigate the potentials of semi-active suspensions of trucks for reduction of tire-road forces in order to reduce the road damage or to allow increasing the payload. Experimental results for different road excitations indicated reduction of dynamic road-tire forces by about 10 - 20 %. The paper includes a brief description of the use simulation tools, the modeling of the semi-active truck and the results achieved by simulation. A separate paper deals with the tested control concepts, the hardware and the results of experiments
