The preparation of (Z)-2-lithio-ortho-styryllithium via an ortho-directed lithiation

Lithiation of (Z)-2-lithiostyrene with t-butyllithium/TMEDA pentane led directly to (Z)-2-lithio-ortho-styryllithium.
