We have measured the heat capacity of 9-methylcarbazole at 4[less-than-or-equals, slant]T/K[less-than-or-equals, slant]345 by adiabatic calorimetry and compared it with that measured by differential scanning calorimetry (d.s.c.) at 120[less-than-or-equals, slant]T//K[less-than-or-equals, slant]355. The d.s.c. measurements were made by both a scanning method and by an enthalpic, or intermittent heating, method. The molar heat capacities Cp, m determined by d.s.c. agreed with the values obtained by adiabatic calorimetry within the usual error associated with d.s.c., about 0.01 · Cp, m. No anomalies or transitions were observed up to 350 K. Thermodynamic functions obtained from these values are tabulated at selected temperatures.Peer Re...
