Schlieren imaging is used for visualization of two-phase flow in a cryogenic rocket combustion chamber using LOX and GH2. In parallel ecording of spontaneous emission of OH radical is used for determining heat sources during the transient ignition process. Information about the flame development are extracted by digital image processing. High-speed greyscale schlieren allow determination of the temporal evolution of the injection and transient ignition process. Synchronized high-resolution colour schlieren allow getting detailed information of the flow and the liquid phase distribution at fixed time-steps after ignition. For determination of ignition time and place and for synchronization laser spark ignition was used
