Background: The palliative care has a goal to ensure that the patient should have a good quality of life. Since the “samhandlingsreformen” in 2009, nurses now face higher knowledge demands to manage palliative patients in home care services. Therefore, the title of this thesis is Cancer - pain relieving palliative care. The issue in this thesis is how we can practice palliative nursing for cancer patients who wants to stay at home the last days of their life. Aim: The aim of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of how nurses can meet the patient is in a palliative phase, in terms of pain relief at home. Materials and metods: This thesis is a systematic literature study based on Cinahl searches, focusing on the keywords: cancer, palliative care, medication and pain management. Conclusion: Cancer patients have 4x stronger pain than other dying patients. A dying man's perception of quality of life is to be painless. Pain control is therefore important to secure quality of life in palliative patients. It is recommended to determine how patients usually tolerate pain. Through an ESAS form you will receive an overview of the patient's pain. According to research, alternative treatment also has good pain relief effect and is well tolerated. If the patient wants to be home the last time of his life, it is crucial to have relatives who support them and shows that they are there for the patient. Palliative patients will need homecare services, and a multidisciplinary team is recommended
