Abstract Background Caesarean section (CS) is a procedure that can be lifesaving for both mother and child. In many developing countries, in particular countries in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, access to this lifesaving procedure is low, resulting in high maternal and infant mortality rates. In many high- and middle-income countries the procedure is extensively performed, and the reasons not always medical. The WHO recommends a CS rate of 10-15%. In Nepal the rate is 5%, according to WHOs latest report from 2014. The aim of this study is to investigate the rate and indications for performing CS in Okhaldhunga community hospital (OCH), Nepal.
