Based on the results from the annual stock assessment of the European hake (Merluccius merluccius) by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea, a fourfold increase of the spawning stock biomass can be observed over the last decade. As a leading country in fisheries research, Norway has as of yet contributed surprisingly little to the research to hake.
