Trafficking in persons is one of the fastest growing illegal activities in the world today. This situation has provoked the necessity among the international community to create normative definitions in order to address this crime. In this context, the adjudicatory bodies regarding violations of human right related to trafficking are exclusively located at the regional and local level. However, the state’s positive and negative obligations towards victims of human trafficking should be address through the judicial application of the norms established by the Protocol and local legislation.
