The implementation of new digital technology is changing the national and international broadcasting structures. This thesis will examine the current situation of the Norwegian public service broadcaster NRK. The main objective of the study is to assess and analyse commercial activities as a competitive strategy, which includes a study of political processes leading towards a commercialisation of the NRK. The research project also analyses the establishment of the NRK's commercial subsidiary NRK Aktivum, as well as concrete activities and business units.
