The Arctic region is thought to play a key role in the world’s oil and gas field development and hydrocarbon resources production. Estimates indicate that approximately 25% of the world’s unexplored hydrocarbon reserves lay beneath the depths of the Arctic regions. Starting with a description of the most urgent oil and gas prospects in the eastern part of the Barents Sea the project will discuss investigations for arctic offshore structures, types of offshore structures, transportation system for arctic conditions, the challenges for development of potential hydrocarbon fields in the Barents Sea Area.
