Is age-related endothelial dysfunction reversible by rosuvastatin treatment? Background: Statins are known to reduce cardiovascular mortality, partially independent of their cholesterol-lowering action and still not fully understood. In this study we tried to assess the effectiveness of rosuvastatin treatment for reduction of age-related endothelial dysfunction. Methods: 32 normotensive rats from NIA (Indianapolis, USA), including 16 old (30 months) and 16 young (5 months) animals, were divided into groups getting rosuvastatin 20mg/kg daily for 8 weeks or to a control group.
