Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHTP) is characterized by overproduction of parathyroid hormone and an increase in the level of serum ionized calcium. The most common cause of excess hormone production is the development of a benign tumor (adenoma) in one of the parathyroid glands.Adenoma accounts for 80-90% percent of all patients with PHTP. Muscular fatigue, constipation ,weakness, lethargy, neuropsychiatric, neuromuscular and cardiovascular manifestations, renal stones, osteoporosis, ostopenia, peptic ulcers, pancreatitis and gallstones are some of the symptoms of PHTP.
