The Protection of Children in Armed Conflicts under the Rules of International Law

This study is an attempt to examine the legal status under International Humanitarian Law of children in situations of attack on targets involving them. The thesis will also explore other relevant rules of International Human rights law and International Criminal Law and how they apply and interrelate with IHL rules regarding the protection of children in situations of attack. The research aims to assess the effectiveness of the existing rules on the protection of children, rather than assessing to what extent they are respected
