Genetic recombination during B-cell development regularly results in the generation of autoreactive, potentially pathogenic B-cell receptors (BCRs). Consequently, multiple mechanisms link inappropriate BCR specificity to clonal deletion. Similar pathways remain in malignant B cells, offering the potential for targeting BCR signaling.
