A fast optical coherence tomography (OCT) system equipped with a software package to render 3D images of the tissue is presented. The OCT system is capable of producing transversal as well as longitudinal images from the retina in vivo. A superluminescent diode at 860 nm is used, with the system delivering 140 μW power to the eye
