This report presents the findings of the Young People\u27s Attitudes to Trade Unions Project that was commissioned by the Newcastle Trades Hall Council with a view to developing more effective strategies for communicating with, and organising young people. The project commenced in late October 1999 with the aim of discovering what young people think and know about trade unions, why union membership among the young (here defined as aged 15-24 years) is generally low, and how young people can be encouraged to join and participate fully in the union movement
