Ghassan Hage explores the culture of \u27worrying\u27 amidst the rise of paranoid nationalism of the last 15 years or so. Hage suggests this has become such a dominant cultural trend in most Western societies that it is sometimes uncritically equated with what it means to be attached to the nation. Nowhere has this generalised culture been as intense as in Australia in light of the Tampa and detention centres
