Fathers\u27 lack of involvement in parenting is the biggest obstacle to post-divorce child custody, according to this report by Michael Flood. Fathers are highly involved in day-to-day care of children in only 10 per cent of families. Many men want to do more fathering, but they are hindered by economic, policy and cultural obstacles. If the government wants men to be involved parents after divorce, it should encourage them to spend more time with their children before divorce. The report argues that proposed changes to family law are dangerous and fail to address the real obstacles to involved fathering. A summary is available online
