Research on youth employment from an employer\u27s perspective has focused on what employers want young people to have, with the Employability Skills Framework developed to identify personal attributes, skills and abilities that contribute to the overall employability of a young person. The Employing Young Workers project, discussed by Mary Tresize-Brown in this paper from the Transitions and Risk: New Directions in Social Policy conference, sets out to discover the other side: the possibilities for developing a framework that identifies the skills, abilities and workplace practices that contribute to employer\u27s effectively inducting, managing and retaining young workers
