This chapter discusses how globalization facilitates white collar crime, and how it can foster more effective mechanisms for the prevention and control of white collar crime. It uses the framework of routine activity theory to explain transnational white collar crime, then presents a range of offence types with examples of cross-border offending. The essay then turns to a discussion of regulatory insti-tutions that can comprise a system of transnational white collar crime control. It illustrates the evolu-tion of global regulatory systems with the examples of transnational corruption control and the interna-tional cooperation to combat money laundering.
