This project provides a detailed, contemporary, empirical understanding of Indigenous Community Housing Organisations (ICHOs) by addressing the nature of the ICHO sector, identifying factors that affect the organisational capacity of ICHOs as well as measures aimed at enhancing the capacity of the sector.According to the Housing and Infrastructure in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities Australia Community Housing and Infrastructure Needs Survey (CHINS) conducted in 2006, there were 496 ICHOs in Australia, managing 21,758 permanent dwellings.
