E-assessment and the AQTF

New research has found that the vocational education and training (VET) system is actively adopting e-assessment while maintaining quality assessment practices. This report examines key e-assessment issues for practitioners and auditors and makes recommendations to promote better understanding and improved practices in e-assessment. The report considers e-assessment compliance with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) 2007, which is the set of standards which aims to ensure nationally consistent, high-quality training and assessment for VET. The research is particularly timely as according to the 2009 national E-learning Benchmarking Survey, 62% of teachers and 46% of registered training organisations (RTOs) are using online assessment activities due to the flexibility they provide. However some practitioners are still finding their feet with e-assessment, as they attempt to fit traditional assessment methods into a new training agenda which requires more on-the-job and flexible training
