Despite many positive external factors, the Rann Government in early 2010 found itself to be increasingly unpopular with the electorate. This account of the 2010 election will show how the Liberal opposition, led by Isobel Redmond, made political capital out of voter disenchantment with unpopular Labor policies, as well as Rann’s leadership style. This paper will describe the election campaign and its aftermath. Further, it will demonstrate how strategic ALP campaigning in marginal seats and Liberal gaffes worked to ultimately secure Rann a third term in office.
