NSW criminal courts statistics 2013

The time taken to finalise trial cases in the District Criminal Court has increased significantly, according to this report. Introduction:  This report deals with criminal cases finalised in 2013 in the New South Wales (NSW) Local, Children’s, District and Supreme Courts. In contrast to prior NSW Criminal Court reports, this report includes an expanded range of tables and summary tables for the Children’s Court which mirror those provided for the Local Courts. While criminal disposals have fallen in the Local and Children’s Courts, they have increased in the Higher Court. In the Local Court, the number of persons/organisations with a finalised matter decreased 3.3 per cent (down from 108,528 in 2012 to 104,982 in 2013) and in the Children’s Court there was a 6.5 per cent decrease (down from 7,919 in 2012 to 7,401 in 2013). In contrast, there was a 9.7 per cent increase in persons finalised in trial and sentence matters (up from 3,297 in 2012 to 3,617 in 2013)
