Mortality from cardiac conditions for Indigenous Australians decreased by 41% between 1998 and 2012, while access to cardiac care has improved over time. Summary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have higher rates of cardiac conditions, and lower access to health services aimed at preventing and treating these conditions, than non-Indigenous Australians.
