This presentation is about a study exploring child protection practitioner decision-making about the placement of children in out-of-home care. A brief measure, \u27the child placement questionnaire\u27 was developed. Following evaluation by experts in child protection research, policy and practice, it was piloted with 53 child protection practitioners working in the Australian out-of-home care sector. Responses on the pilot and comparisons about decision-making for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children is discussed. Future research will focus on refining and validating the measure with a view to better understanding and improving this under researched area of decision-making in child protection
