El presente estudio tiene como objetivo determinar los efectos hidro-mecánicos de las raíces sobre la resistencia a tracción de un suelo natural y compactadoThe present study aims at better understanding the role of roots and partial saturation on the tensile strength of a soil. A new apparatus has been designed to perform direct tensile stress tests at controlled displacement or controlled force, as well as drying tests in which the tensile force is recorded by a load cell. Tests will be performed at different root area ratios (RARs) and hydraulic states. Pull-out strength of roots will be also studied
