Boscos i deveses a la Corona catalano-aragonesa (segles XIV-XV)

In the Middle Ages, forests supplied important resources for the life of men, such as fire-wood and coal to warm themselves, to cook their food and to do several artisan and industrial activities; moreover, wood to build their houses, ships, furniture and all kind of articles, as well as food for human and animal nourishment. Forests also offered pasture for cattle and habitat for hunting. So, authorities were watchful to prevent that forests would be fired by shepherds, farmers or some other people who speculated with ashes or that they became destroyed by the progress of farming and overexploitation. The article, based on documents from the Archives, explains the different methods of forestry exploitation: the obtaining of coal, of fire-wood for domestic use and for different kinds of ovens; for building houses, ships and so on. The authoress also studies the control of wood export trade and its conveyance along roads or rivers. The article is completed by the study of the controlled use of nature by means of preserved grounds; thus, the inhabitants of villages, who had the possibility of caking advantage of them and so preventing forests from overexploitation by restricting the access to them, were duly supplied with wood, coal and pastures. The geographical area of chis study is Catalonia, Valencia and Aragon.Au Moyen Âge, la forêt fournissait des éléments essentiels pour la vie de l'homme: du bois à brûler et du charbon pour se chauffer, pour cuisiner et pour développer differentes activités artisanales et industrielles; du bois pour construire des maisons, bateaux, meubles et d’autres utensiles de ménage; des fruits pour la nourriture des hommes et des animaux. La forêt offrait, aussi, de l'herbe pour les troupeaux et un habitat pour la chasse. C’était à cause de tout ça que les autorités ne permettaient pas que la forêt fût ruinée, soit par les incendies provoqués par les pasteurs, soit par les cultivateurs ou les spéculateurs des cendres, soit par le progrès des cultures et la surexploitation. D'ailleurs, cet article, écrit sur la base d'une documentation inédite provenante des Archives, explique les différentes modalités d’exploitation de la forêt: l’obtention du charbon, du bois à brûler pour l'usage domestique et pour les différentes sortes de fours, du bois pour la construction des maisons et des bateaux. L'auteur y étudie aussi le control sur l'exploitation du bois et son transport à travers les voies terrestres et fluviales. L'article étudie, finalement, l'usufruit controlé de la nature au moyen des terrains réservés qui assuraient les besoins de bois, charbon, pâtures etc. des habitants des villages, lesquels n'obtinrent la concession en evitant ainsi la surexploitation de la forêt en y restreignant l’accès. Du point de vue géographique, l'étude comprend la Catalogne, la Valence et l'Aragon
