In New York City the rise of gentrification often comes at to the expense of marginalized New York families being pushed out. Statistics show that homeless families often make up three-quarters of the cities shelter system. As the living income rises in New York City, I’d like to research single-parent households who’ve suffered homelessness in regard to rising rents. In addition to this, I’d also like to study how many homeless shelters have been built and how many neighborhoods are being gentrified. Another cause I will be researching will be the de-funding of public housing, the local government and federal funding’s amendment could be a factor in the staggering rate of homeless shelters needed for the rising single-parent households
