The theory of compositeness proposes the idea that the fundamental particles described in the Standard Model are composed of particles called preons. Our analysis focuses on a new method of generating theoretical limits on the energy scale Λ at which compositeness can actually be observed. Lower limits of 95% confidence are set by calculating the Λ at which one could observe a non-resonant enhancement in the dilepton invariant mass spectrum when compared to the current Standard Model prediction. Destructive interference can cause a yield that is lower than the Standard Model prediction in some of the signal bins, making it challenging to interpret contact interactions as a signal process.
