En el presente trabajo se analiza el sistema caldera-economizador para determinar el efecto del precalentamiento del agua en la eficiencia del sistema de generación de vapor. La solución de las ecuaciones del balance de materia y de energía (BME) permite establecer que existe un ahorro en el consumo de combustible a medida que se incrementa la temperatura del agua que ingresa a la caldera; asimismo, se consigue mejorar la eficiencia del generador de vapor.
