Se han obtenido suspensiones coloidales de nanopartículas de plata por radiación gamma, a partir de soluciones acuosas de AgNO3 en presencia de polivinilpirrolidona (PVP) o alcohol polivinílico (PVA). El tamaño y forma de las nanopartículas analizadas por microscopía electrónica de transmisión son fuertemente influenciadas por el tipo de polímero así como de su concentración. El tamaño de las nanopartículas obtenidas usando PVP oscilan entre 10 y 50 nm, observándose, además, una distribución de tamaño de partículas estrecha para la mayoría de casos.
