Two scientific impact have news in recent weeks. The first concerns the genetic correlations with human disease (1). The identification of a genetic correlation between features and complex human diseases can become a useful insight to help etiological prioritize a likely causal relationship. Until now it had not been able to establish this relationship because the information complete genotype of a particular individual was not known and there is extensive overlap of the sample in the meta-analysis. But now it has used a regression technique score LD crossing features that only requires a statistical summary of the study of association in the complete genome (genome-wide association study - GWAS) and has no bias overlay sample. With this method, researchers have come to estimate genetic correlations between 25 300 features a total of more than 1.5 million measurements of unique phenotypes, having found genetic correlations between anorexia nervosa and schizophrenia / BMI and educational attainment with various diseases. The results show the power of whole genome analysis, because until now had not found single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that were associated with anorexia nervosa and only three SNP for educational attainment (2).Dos noticias han tenido impacto científico en las últimas semanas. El primero se refiere a las correlaciones genéticas con las enfermedades humanas (1). La identificación de una correlación genética entre características complejas y las enfermedades del ser humano puede devenir en una visión etiológica útil que ayude a priorizar una probable relación causal. Hasta ahora no se había podido establecer esta correlación porque no se conocía la información del genotipo completo de un individuo en particular y existe amplia superposición de la muestra en los metaanálisis. Pero, ahora se ha utilizado una técnica de regresión del puntaje LD del cruce de características que solo requiere un resumen estadístico del estudio de asociación en el genoma completo (genome-wide association study - GWAS) y que no tiene el sesgo de superposición de la muestra. Con este método, los investigadores han llegado a estimar 300 correlaciones genéticas entre 25 características, con un total de más de 1,5 millón de mediciones de fenotipos únicos, habiendo hallado correlaciones genéticas entre anorexia nervosa y esquizofrenia/índice de masa corporal y logros educacionales, con varias enfermedades. Los resultados expresan el poder del análisis del genoma completo, pues hasta el momento no se había encontrado polimorfismos de nucleótido simple (SNP) que se asociaran a la anorexia nervosa y solo tres SNP para logro educacional (2)
