THE ANALYSIS OF SANTIAGO AS THE MAIN CHARACTER IN THE NOVEL OF THE ALCHEMIST

The Analysis Of Santiago As The Main Character In The Novel The Alchemist (Dibimbing oleh Sudarmin Harun dan Fathu Rahman).Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeksripsikan kepribadian karakter utama dalam novel. Selain itu, penulis juga menjelaskan tentang pengaruh karakter yang lain terhadap karakter utama didalam cerita.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan genetik strukturalisme. Metode penelitian ini digunakan untuk menganalisis elemen intrinsik seperti karakter, plot, tema dan setting. Selain itu penulis juga menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam menganalisis data yang berfokus pada analisis aspek murni dalam karya sastra. Data Primer didapatkan melalui Novel yang dibahas. Data Sekunder didadapatkan melalui perpustakaan, internet, jurnal, artikel, dan beberapa buku.Hasil dari analisis menunjukkan bahwa kepribadian yang ada pada tokoh utama sangat istimewa dibandingkan dengan karakter yang lainnya. Selain itu Santiago juga dikenal sebagai karakter yang cerdas dan bermoral, memiliki semangat dan ambisi yang tinggi untuk mencapai mimpi-mimpinya.ixABSTRACTMUSHAWWIR. 2013. In addition, the author also describes the influence of the other characters toward the main characters in the story.This research used genetic structuralism approach. The research methods used to analyze intrinsic elements such as characters, plot, themes and settings. In addition the author also using qualitative methods in analyzing the data focuses on the analysis of the aspects of pure in literary works. Primary data obtained through the Novel are discussed. Secondary data obtained through library, internet, journals, articles and several books.The results of the analysis show that the personality of the main character very special compared to other characters. Besides Santiago also known as an intelligent and moral character, have a high spirit and ambition to achieve his dreams.ix + 53 hlm
