Herself, a highly experimental, “couture” textile sculpture was first shown in October 2010 in Howard Street, Sheffield in conjunction with The University of Sheffield and Sheffield City Council. HERSELF is generation 1 of a series of cultural interventions, which will form the start of this long term, pioneering project Catalytic Clothing. Intended to illustrate in artistic form the idea that textiles can eliminate certain pollutants from the air so that we can breathe more beautifully. Herself is potentially the world’s first air purifying dress.
