Analysis on Human Resources Status in Agricultural and Fishery Corporations

As opening agricultural, fishery and food market to the world after the EU-Korea, U.S.- Korea FTA agreement, it becomes significant to understand the domestic capability to cope with external environmental changes. The more competitive market is, the more demands of capital increase. Especially in the era of knowledge-based economy society, human capital is regarded as the most important form of resources. Thus, the present research aimed to describe the exact status of human resources in the agricultural and fishery corporations and to suggest policy directions to develop globally competitive agricultural and fishery corporations. The research study mainly investigated thoroughly qualitative and quantitative status of labor force, recruitment, education training participation in agricultural business corporations. In addition, the study also includes needs analysis of CEOs of agricultural corporates to find implications to relieve current problems. In order to improve objectivity and validity in describing the reality, the study built a mixed research method. A mixed method approach is one in which the researchers collect, analyze, and integrate both quantitative and qualitative data in a single study. This research study carried out two different types of research methodology. One is a survey. The sample corporates were selected through purposive sampling methodology from the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Database. The majority of samples were a member of Korean Agricultural, Fishery and Food Associations(KAFFA). The other is an in-depth case study.
