Addressing the impacts of climate change in the highmountain cryosphere and downstream regions, as well as responses to these impacts, has increasingly been the focus of research activities in recent years (e.g. Huss et al. 2017; Milner et al. 2017; Vuille et al. 2018). Studies aim at documenting and enhancing our understanding of processes and drivers related to these impacts, the extent of their negative effects, and the perception of these problems from the perspective of those affected.
