The purpose of Chicora's study is to examine the methods used by a number of major Southeastern repositories to curate field records, specifically paper and photographic materials. The techniques of curation revealed by the study are then evaluated for their effects on the stability and life expectancy of the records. The goal is to emphasize the importance of preserving the written and photographic documentation comprising site and excavation files
