Daniel Sturgis was selected as the artist for Uppingham School's new science facility, Destination Science, the ambition being to integrate the artwork within the central atrium in the new building. Sturgis' designs were laser cut into powder-coated aluminium screens. The triple height atrium of Destination Science has been designed with the series of laser cut aluminium bands on each floor of the core. The perforated panels are set out in a crenulated form, responding to the Foucault's pendulum suspended in the atrium, a device that demonstrates the rotation of the Earth.
