The X-Form series of 2D-3D woven textiles developed by Brock is based on the systematic exploration of on-loom combinations of x-form paper folding and the use of smart yarns in the weft of the fabric. The 3D folding/engineering properties of the woven structures of the fabric are visually enhanced through the light-changing properties of smart yarns which change significantly in different UV light conditions. The smart yarns are florescent and phosphorescent, emitting light and changing colour without the incorporation of LEDs, fibre optics or other fibres that require an external power source.
