Scentsory Design® for scentient beings

Fashion has a reason; it is a display of personal identity, primarily through strong visual cues. This project is directed by Dr Jenny Tillotson, Senior Research Fellow from Central Saint Martins University of the Arts London, her mission is to add more sensations into the fashion palette in ways that create radical new fashion properties with real benefit. The Scentsory Design® project chooses scent as a tool to improve mental and physical wellbeing, enabling the Scentient Being (the wearer) to act on visual cues or detect scent signals, allowing immediate information. Scentsory Design® fuses responsive clothes with lab-on-a-chip technology to create Emotional Fashion that offers social and therapeutic value in a desirable fashion context. The items produce a very personal scent ‘bubble’, delivering sensations on demand. They pulse scent as an atomised mist that is detectable by the wearer alone. Scent is delivered in minute doses focusing on intimate use rather than generalised and therefore higher volume use. This allows targeted delivery of social, erotic, holistic, analgesic or emotional ‘ripples’ of scent to specific parts of the body that is to be more efficient and economic in use.
