Within the scope of the research project S³ (safety sensor technology for service robots in production logistics and other applications), a sensor technology will be developed which, in addition to safe 3D environmental monitoring, enables further functions such as the differentiation between objects and persons and recognition of irregularities. The sensor technology will be evaluated within two application cases: in automated guided vehicles in the area of production logistics and on a service robot in stationary care. The long-term goal is to create a product out of the sensor technology for a wide field of mobile applications, such as retail or public facilities (e.g. museums and airports)
