This paper proposes, starting from some theoretical issues conveyed by Rousseau’s Émile, to investigate how and if the educational relationship changes in those processes of teaching-learning that involve the new technologies. Along this direction, it will be analyzed the value of some theoretical categories, such as the spatial and temporal expansion, the loss of physical presence and the informal learning, which are typical features of the educational relationship in e-learning
