In the second half of the 20th century, South Korea belonged among poor developing countries with high fertility rate. Government fear of too rapid population growth led to the introduction of a restrictive population policy in the 1960s, which, together with other factors, caused that the fertility rate declined below the replacement rate.The aim of this thesis is to identify the main impacts of the population policy on the current population and to summarize the most important measures of the South Korean government and their efficiency in solving the problem of population aging in the 21st century.The thesis is divided into three chapters.
