Purpose: The purpose of this article is to review the benefits of intermittent fasting for weight loss. Method: A PubMed, CINAHL, and Google Scholar search was conducted with search terms intermittent fasting, benefits, and weight loss. Pertinent articles were retrieved, and they serve as the basis for this clinical review. Results: Limited studies comparing the different IF methods to one another, as well as limited studies comparing IF to other popular weight loss programs/strategies. Conclusion: The literature review and evidence-based medicine is important to educate patients wanting or needing to lose weight.
