Short abstract: One of the leading causes of death globally is malaria, which proves to be more dangerous each year as its parasite’s drug resistance increases. Our hope in combating the illness lies in finding new treatments. Our lab, as part of an interdisciplinary effort with Dr. Prakash Kempaiah, is testing novel anti-malarial compounds. Specifically, we will be taking the first step in evaluating them under in vivo conditions using a mouse model system. We aim to test several compounds and analyze the best ones for efficacy, bioavailability, dosage, and host metabolism. This project is done with fellow presenter Manuel Widuch
