noneIntendiamo studiare le interrelazioni tra uomo, potere politico e territorio nell'Iran di età arsacide e sasanide (II a.C. – VII d.C.), a cavallo tra due transizioni politiche di notevole importanza, la prima tra la dinastia dei Seleucidi e quella degli Arsacidi, la seconda tra la dinastia dei Sasanidi e il dominio islamico, e analizzare gli elementi di continuitàdiscontinuità che le hanno caratterizzate contribuendo alla creazione dell'identità iranica. Basandoci su due categorie di documenti, relativi alle fonti scritte e all’archeologia del territorio, studieremo tre aree nodali dell’Iran antico, legate alle ricerche delle singole unità: altopiano centro-settentrionale definito Pahlaw (Sapienza), Pars (Bologna) e Khuzestan (Torino). Il progetto si caratterizza per una forte interdisciplinarità e prevede il coinvolgimento di tre unità complementari operanti con diversi approcci metodologici, che condivideranno le proprie competenze disciplinari in una prospettiva trasversale, indispensabile per affrontare adeguatamente uno dei contesti culturali di maggiore significato del mondo antico. Il progetto avrà una doppia struttura, verticale per gli aspetti territoriali e orizzontale per gli ambiti disciplinari, articolandosi in 6 Work Packages.We intend to study the interplays between man, political power and territory in Arsacid and Sasanian Iran (2nd BCE – 7th CE), a period limited by two political transitions of considerable importance, the first between the Hellenistic dynasty of the Seleucids and the kingdom of the Arsacids, the second between the Sasanian dynasty and Islamic domination. In this perspective, the analysis will focus on the elements of continuitydiscontinuity that characterize this period, contributing to the creation of Iranian identity. Drawing upon two typologies of documents, written sources – primary and secondary - and landscape archaeology, we will study three key areas of ancient Iran, which reflect the key-research of individual units: northern-central plateau, hereafter called Pahlaw (Sapienza), Pars (Bologna) and Khuzestan (Turin). The present Project is characterized by a strong interdisciplinarity, each unit operating with different methodological approaches. The three units will share their disciplinary skills in a transversal perspective, crucial to adequately address one of the most remarkable cultural contexts of the ancient world.
