The history professorship in the digital age: an experience in secondary education

The socio-technological approach that underlies the school of the 21st century, coupled with the assumption that our students are digital natives, provokes, without any other remedy, the renewal of education, one can even speak of the revolution in education. The idea is to break with traditional methodologies to connect with students through the didactic use of ICT. All this has meant a true innovation in the learning of some subjects, historically anchored to more traditional methods, such as the area of History, among others. Really, thinking about innovating is not just using technologies or including games in the classrooms (Gamification). It would be necessary to go further, encouraging critical thinking in the classroom, using our intelligences to the maximum as Howard Gardner (1983) contributed. In this article, we first analyze the reasons why it is necessary to innovate, change teaching methodologies and evolve in the digital career of Secondary Education and Baccalaureate in the area of History. Next, an educational experience of the use of ICT for the study of History is shown, analyzing the proposed ICT resources that, together with the development of Multiple Intelligences, open a great variety of opportunities for the proposed training to be complete and enriching. Finally, the main ideas that lead us to conclude that the learning experience has been motivating and rewarding for students are presented.El enfoque sociotecnológico que subyace a la escuela del siglo XXI, unida a la asunción de que nuestro alumnado es nativo digital, provoca, sin más remedio, la renovación de la educación, incluso, se puede hablar de la revolución de la educación. La idea de la que se parte es romper con las metodologías tradicionales para conectar con el alumnado a través del uso didáctico de las TIC. Todo ello ha supuesto una verdadera innovación en el aprendizaje de algunas materias, ancladas históricamente a métodos más tradicionales, como puede ser el área de Historia, entre otras. Realmente, pensar en innovar no es solo utilizar tecnologías o incluir juegos en las aulas (Gamificación). Se tendría que ir más allá, fomentando un pensamiento crítico en las aulas, utilizando nuestras inteligencias al máximo como aportaba Howard Gardner (1983). En este artículo, se analizan, en primer lugar, las razones por las que es necesario innovar, cambiar las metodologías docentes y evolucionar en la carrera digital de la Educación Secundaria y Bachillerato en el área de Historia. A continuación, se muestra una experiencia educativa de utilización de las TIC para el estudio de la Historia, analizándose los recursos TIC propuestos que, unidos al desarrollo de las Inteligencias Múltiples, abren una gran variedad de oportunidades para que la formación que se propone sea completa y enriquecedora. Por último, se presentan las principales ideas que nos llevan a concluir que la experiencia de aprendizaje realizada ha sido motivadora y gratificante para el alumnado
