A INSURGÊNCIA SÉLÉKA E A INSEGURANÇA NA REPÚBLICA CENTRO-AFRICANA ENTRE 2012 E 2014

This study focuses on the historical roots of the Séléka insurgency in the Central African Republic (CAR), from December 2012 to March 2013, that culminated in the overthrow of Francois Bozizé and the taking over of the mantle of leadership of the country by the Séléka union or coalition led by its leader, Michel Am Nondroko Djotodia and then Catherine Samba-Panza. The roots of this insurgency and instability are traced to the past and to French administration in Equatorial Africa. The study specifically examines the internal dynamics that contributed to this insurgency, as well as the consequences for internal peace and stability. The data used for analysis in this study is basically secondary and tertiary in nature. We have reinterpreted and analyzed this data in the context of the continuous insurgency, instability and disintegration that this has brought to the CAR and the Central African sub-region in general. The study concludes that the Séléka insurgency that led to the leadership change, in March 2013 and January 2014, in the CAR, is a result of a complex interplay of factors that have been and are likely to continue making the CAR a failed state, with repercussions on the people of the country and its neighbors.O estudo centra-se nas raízes históricas da insurgência Séléka na República Centro Africana (RCA), de dezembro de 2012 a março de 2013, período que culminou com a derrubada de Francois Bozizé, a tomada do poder pela união (ou coalizão) Séléka, liderada pelo líder Michel Am Nondroko Djotodia e, posteriormente, por Catherine Samba-Panza. As raízes dessa insurgência e instabilidade são traçadas desde a administração francesa na África Equatorial. O estudo analisa especificamente a dinâmica interna que contribuiu para essa insurgência, bem como as consequências para a paz e a estabilidade do país. Os dados utilizados para a análise neste estudo são, basicamente, secundários e terciários em natureza. Temos reinterpretado e analisado esses dados no contexto da insurgência contínua, a instabilidade e desintegração que isso trouxe para a RCA e a África Central em geral. O estudo conclui que a insurgência Séléka que levou à mudança de liderança em março de 2013 e janeiro 2014 na RCA é o resultado de uma complexa interação de fatores que têm persistido e que são susceptíveis a continuar a fazer a RCA ser um Failed State, com repercussões sobre seu povo e nos países vizinhos.
